Recently, we read an article about this subject with all the hype surrounding the new G. I. Joe: Rise of Cobra movie and think that it’s absolutely true. Just like Duke, Scarlett, Snake Eyes and the rest of the G. I.’s are in a constant battle against COBRA so are we in a constant battle everyday against the supernatural enemy, Satan.

And even if some of us aren’t into all of the bomb exploding and heavy duty fighting that goes on in wars, anyone would admit that there’s something interesting to see when people are fighting for a good cause. And it doesn’t just have to be in wars, people fight everyday for good causes – like helping the homeless or making sure that orphans get loving homes and families or working everyday to find cures for leukemia. So, in a different sense, all of us are soldiers – loyal and fighting for different causes.

As Christians, we also are in an army and must fight everyday to win. The day that we accepted Jesus Christ into our hearts and lives, we were also enlisted into His army and we must be faithful in carrying out His commands. No, as Christian kid G. I.’s we don’t have to use nanotechnology and go on a mad dash across all of France to save the lovely Eiffel Tower from warheads (though, that would be super cool to do) but it is our job to be loyal to Christ and to witness to as many people as possible.

And we can’t take our commands and be lousy with them, we have to take them seriously unless we’ll miss the chance to be a victor for Jesus and earn glittering crowns. Don’t get distracted by worldy idols or evil temptations, be strong and full of courage and never ever afraid. Good G. I.’s are always ready to go, always ready for a battle, and fully prepared whenever they are called on a mission. And as Christians, we have God’s Word to help and protect us and most of all we’ve got the power of God Himself living inside us through the Holy Spirit.

So G.I. Christian…soldier up and get ready for action!
